How to quit vaping

Quitting vaping can be tough, but with a good plan and support, you can do it!

If the ban on disposables is the push you need to quit, here are some tips to help you succeed:

While HMQ doesn’t currently offer a full stop vaping service (like our support for quitting smoking), we’re still here to help.

If you’d like to talk to one of our expert advisors about your personalised quit plan created with our online tool, we can offer a one-off session to support your quit journey.

What to expect when you quit

When you stop vaping, your body and mind will take some time to adjust. It’s normal to experience:

  • Strong cravings

Your brain has become used to regular nicotine hits

  • Irritability or low mood

Nicotine withdrawal can affect your mood

  • Trouble focusing

As your body readjusts to life without nicotine

  • Increased appetite

Sometimes a side effect as your body adjusts

  • Sleep disruptions

This should settle down as you adjust

These symptoms are a normal part of the quitting process and tend to pass relatively quickly. Reminding yourself of your reasons for quitting can help you push through the tough days.

What if I relapse?

Slipping up is normal - it doesn’t mean you’ve failed. Remember:

  • If you were vaping to quit smoking...

…going back to vaping is much better than starting to smoke again.

  • Take it as a learning experience...

…and try again when you’re ready. Every attempt gets you closer to success.

You've got this

Quitting vaping can be tough, but every step forward is progress.

Whether you quit gradually or all at once, with the right plan and support, you can reach your goal.
